ST. JOHN’S, NL, APRIL 25, 2022 – Central Newfoundland television personality and host of Let’s Get Writing, Kathryn Taylor will launch her debut novel, Misty’s Misadventures, this Thursday, April 28, 2022.

Misty’s Misadventures is the story of Misty Muldoon. Until now, Misty’s favourite view of Newfoundland was always the one in her rear-view mirror. So when she has to leave the city and move to Charlie’s Cove, Newfoundland, with her two daughters, a mountain of debt, and the ink freshly dried on her divorce papers, it’s hardly her idea of a happy homecoming. With the help of the kind, meddling and downright eccentric locals, she sets out to rebuild her life in the ramshackle house left to her by her great uncle. When she starts writing a column for the local paper about transitioning back to life on The Rock while looking for a new man, little does she know her search for love will soon go viral when it’s picked up by a reality TV show—Charlie’s Cove and Misty Muldoon will never be the same again.

The book, which was self-published through FriesenPress, will be officially launched at a special event happening this coming Thursday, at Bannerman Brewery in St. John’s, from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m.

To accompany the book launch, a feature book trailer will premiere at the event. The trailer, which was produced by Roger Maunder of Up Sky Down Films, and made possible through a grant from TechNL, was filmed in Pleasantview, near Point Leamington, in the summer of 2021. The trailer features the original song, Home to Newfoundland, which was written and performed by Newfoundland singer-songwriter Evelyn Jess. Roger Maunder and Evelyn Jess will be in attendance at Thursday’s event, where Evelyn will perform the song live. “From the time I envisioned Misty, I saw a woman who was broken but committed to rebuilding her life. The rich and colourful backdrop of Charlie’s Cove, with its array of eccentric residents, was the perfect setting for this comedic and occasionally romantic tale,” says Taylor.  “This year’s Come Home Year has been an accidental fit for my book, and I hope it will resonate with those coming back home to Newfoundland this summer.”

Misty’s Misadventures is available online through Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Chapters Indigo, and most major book retailers.

About Kathryn Taylor

Taylor is the host and producer of the popular YouTube show and podcast Let’s Get Writing. Let’s Get Writing features writers, from a wide range of genres, in a dedicated 27-minute interview that broadcasts on her social media platforms each week. Taylor created Let’s Get Writing to help her writing journey but quickly realised its importance for her guests.  Let’s Get Writing offered writers and publishers a voice and platform, particularly through COVID when the industry lost many of the usual promotion and sales channels. With more than 150 shows to her credit, she looks forward to Season 5 this fall. Kathryn also wrote the screenplay for Misty’s Misadventures while participating in a juried mentorship program sponsored by Women In Film Toronto.
